Moonlight Rollerway is an old-timey roller skating rink in Glendale with a kitschy, American Graffiti feel to it.
This is a fun option for clients on the East side of town interested in a more active, booze-free outing.
Here’s a video overview for a sense of the place with the best narration voice I could find. For the ad community folks out there, they also do some cool brand activations like this event with FX for The Shards.
They have a snack bar with a menu with all the hits your 13-year-old self would have loved (pizza, nuggets, nachos, hot dogs, etc.). Golden Road Brewery (Yelp) is also just down the street if you want to get a bite before skating.
Here are the three options for midweek entertaining:
Join a public skate:
8-11pm Monday-Thursday
$25 per person at the door ($23 online) plus $8 skate rental
Everyone needs to have or rent skates (even spectators)
No reservation needed. The only night it’s ever sold out is Harry Potter night, so avoid that!
Reserve a party (rest of the rink still open to the public):
8-11pm Monday-Thursday
$300 for ten people - $30 for each additional person
Includes skates, designated table area, fountain drink pitcher.

Fully private event (just you and the crew):
5-7pm (everyone must be out by 7p so they can set up for public skate)
Available Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
$1,500 for 50 people - $30 per person for each additional person.
For an additional $300, you can start your event at 4pm.
Can bring in outside food and non-alcoholic drinks for an additional $3 per person
If you want to bring in alcohol, there’s an additional $500 fee.

Added value: Moonlight Rollerway made the cut as I was looking for unique, affordable client entertaining options that don’t revolve around alcohol. I’ve been here a few times myself and am always impressed by the quality of the DJs, the unbelievable age range of the people there, and how quickly my self-consciousness about my poor roller skating skills comes roaring back.
