Oh, Mary! is an absurd, raunchy comedy about Mary Todd Lincoln in the weeks before Abraham Lincoln’s assassination.

Written by Cole Escola, the play has gotten lots of love from the NY Times and gone on to become a record-breaking Broadway hit with two Tony Awards. The LA run stars Alaska Thunderfuck (what a stage name), winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 2 (as I’m sure you all remember), and J. Harrison Ghee as Mary’s husband, aka Honest Abe.

The show is 80 minutes with no intermission. Tickets are selling fast, so I would jump on it if you and your clients are interested.

Basics:

  • Where: Ahmanson Theatre, 135 N. Grand Ave. (Downtown LA)

  • Dates: November 10th through December 6th

    • Weeknight shows: Tuesday–Thursday at 7:30pm, except Thanksgiving

  • Tickets: Range from $60 to $400

Dinner/Drinks nearby:

  • Kendall’s Brasserie: French brasserie on the Music Center campus. An easy nearby option for dinner before the show.

  • Abernethy’s: Rotating guest-chef restaurant on Jerry Moss Plaza, right by the Ahmanson.

  • San Laurel: José Andrés’ Spanish-Californian restaurant on the 10th floor of the Conrad. A short walk from the theater and a good option for a more elevated dinner.

  • Grand Central Market: The casual choose-your-own-adventure option. Everyone can pick a vendor, then walk uphill to the show or take Angels Flight for part of the climb.

Added Value: If you have a client who loves Broadway or misses going to the theater in New York, this is a chance to catch a big hit together in LA.
