Like many of you, I receive a solid amount of AI-generated inbound emails. This was one of my favorites.

As much as I appreciated this thoughtful check in from Olivia B, it did get me thinking about what we’re up against in the attention war that is our clients’ inboxes. Nonsense cold emails, important work messages, and our well-planned entertaining invites are tossed into the same soup.
One way to stand out is to make your name/email synonymous with fun, unexpected ideas. Another way is to write fake pleas for help to drive commission-only Amazon growth, but I think the former will ultimately yield better results.

Wax and Wicks Candlemaking

One of the most consistent pieces of feedback I’ve received is a desire to mix in more craft experiences.
Wax and Wicks is a 1.5-2 hour scented candlemaking experience at Oops! Art Happens studio in Culver City. Taking a page from the old maverick Bob Ross, the studio's whole ethos is "no mistakes, only happy accidents".
No experience necessary and you get to leave with your own scented candle. They also offer scented soap-making classes if that’s more up your alley.
As I was researching candlemaking experiences, this one caught my eye for the central location, chill approach to art, and a cool founder story of an immigrant making her American dream happen.

Added Value: One of my goals with MeetWell is to surface client entertaining events that are shorter, more relaxing, and more experiential. I like the candlemaking option because it gives you both something to do and talk about, while also giving everyone something cute and memorable to leave with. Smell is also famously the most memory-linked sense, so maybe a whiff of patchouli down the line nudges them to think of you next time RFPs are going out.
Electric Bleu in Mar Vista

Electric Bleu is a hip French restaurant near the corner of Centinela and Palms. If you, like me, have ever spent some time crunching down Centinela during rush hour, you’ve probably seen their distinctive blue facade.
The restaurant was one of 11 LA restaurants recently added to the Michelin Guide and was also featured in the LA Times for the quality of its <$100 tasting menu.
Address: 3523 S Centinela Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90066
Hours:
5pm - 10pm Wed - Sat
5pm - 9pm Sun
Cost (menu varies week to week, but this is generally the range):
A la carte: $15-25 for the first course, $30-40 for mains
5-course Tasting Menu: $79 pp ($69pp for wine pairing)
Corkage fee: $45 per bottle

Added Value: Somewhere during my lifetime restaurants transitioned from ordering your own food to the 2-3 tiny plates per person situation we have today.
In my experience, this often ends up with collective decision paralysis where I make an awkward final approval on all orders. My new technique is to just convince the table to let the server create a tasting menu for us, so no one chooses, and everyone gets to experience the surprise and delight moment.
All this to say, I appreciate a good tasting menu option like Electric Bleu for taking so much of the decision-making off everyone’s plate.
Chloe Kim and Myles Garrett’s Korean Facial Experience

I started following Chloe Kim during the Winter Olympics, and being in the ad world, I was curious to see some of her sponsored work.
She did a post with her all-pro football-playing boyfriend (who is now on the RAMS! Woo!), Myles Garrett, talking about getting a facial at a Korean Spa in LA.
Needless to say, I was intrigued, and after doing some homework, it seems like a cool option if you’re looking to entertain clients with a high end Korean skincare-focused spa experience.

Website: Hanok-K Beauty Spa
Hours:

Chloe’s spon-con with Myles!
Added Value: If we assume on some level that we’re all at least a little bit curious to try out the things we see on social media for ourselves, Hanok-K Beauty Spa fits the bill. As a swanky Beverly Hills spa, you’d better believe there is a long line of videos with influencers whisper-narrating their experience with panoramic shots and cutesy neo-soul background music. Worked on me, I’m intrigued! 👀
The Oasis 🏝
Ever been hanging with a client and the conversation just completely runs dry? I know I have. Whether it’s recent and topical, or general and evergreen, this section is about giving you one idea for helping in that moment.
Twin 67-story towers proposed at the old Wilshire Courtyard! If you have any clients who remember the days of the old Wilshire Courtyard, there is a proposal to turn our old Mendo-slinging L&L stomping grounds into a massive housing complex (Urbanize LA).
Thanks for reading. I’m building this for sellers looking for more creative ways to connect with clients and your feedback will genuinely shape where it goes.
