Foodshop is a monthly private dining experience at a chic industrial warehouse space in Venice. It’s BYOB, the menu is seasonal, and food is served family style at long communal tables.

The menu is shared via email early in the month with available dates often including Thursdays (here’s an example menu).

To reserve a spot, simply sign up for the email list and respond to monthly menu announcement email with the number of seats you want.

  • Date: Select dates Thursday, Friday, Saturday

  • Cost: $90-100 per person

  • Private Room: You can also rent a private room for 15-20 people. 

    • Cost: $130 per person. 

    • Perk: Get to arrive 30 min earlier to come in and have a cocktail 

    • Important note: This has to fall on the same day as one of Foodshop’s existing communal nights.

Added Value: I dig this because in addition to being a generally cool, unique LA experience, it’s not overly expensive (by LA dinner standards), and they can usually accommodate adding new people in case more clients want to come.  

I celebrated my birthday here a few years ago, and after trying to reserve 20 spots, they countered me with a challenge to rent out the whole place. The challenge was accepted and through an act of truly divine intervention when it comes to LA flakiness, I wrangled nearly 50 friends to dinner on a Friday night. I soon realized the only thing worse than organizing your clients to get somewhere is organizing your friends.
